Government Law College, Thrissur

The Government Law College, Thrissur started in the year 1992 . It is the fourth Government Law College in the State and is affiliated to the University of Calicut. The need for starting a Government Law College at Thrissur was deeply felt by theducationists, intellectuals, lawyers and other eminent.personalities of Thrissur in 1970 itself.

The first batch of Law Graduates came out in 1993-94 academic year. Sri. R. Muthukrishnan, Chairman, Bar Council of India and Sri Gopakumaran Nair, the Local Member visited the college on 27-3-1995 and affiliation of the college was approved by the Bar Council of India.

Government Law College, Thrissur, since its establishment in 1992, always made greatstrides charting the uncharted path, keeping a definite vision to promote legal research and enhance the standards of legal education in the State.Beginning with limited facilities, the institution now offers bachelors, masters and research degrees in law with excellent infrastructural facilities. Its library is one of the best in the State with over 40,000 titles and over 20 journals including e-journal resources.
